Abstract:

The aim of this research is to reveal the relationship between the pre-professional teaching identities of the students of pedagogical formation and their attitudes towards the teaching profession. The universe of research in the relational scan model is formed by students of pedagogical formation who continue to study at the University of Fırat. There are 245 teachers who are volunteer to participate. The research data was collected with the "pre-professional teacher identity scale" developed by Friesen and Besley (2013) and the "professional teacher attitude scale" developed by Kahramanoğlu, Yokuş, Cücük, Vural and Şiraz (2018) adapted to Turkish by Arpacı and Bardakçı (2015). Data analysis is done with a computer-backed statistical program. According to this, in the teaching identities of the teachers candidates; in the low dimension of seeing themselves as teachers, significant differences are identified for the benefit of women according to gender; in the status of graduation and age, no significant differences are identified. In the teaching profession, the attitude towards gender variation appeared in favor of female teachers candidates. Also, a positive and meaningful relationship has been established between the pre-professional teaching identities of the teacher candidates and their attitudes towards the teaching profession.
