Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between social competence, aggression and anxiety points of 4-5 year old children and their parents' parental self-efficacy perception. Sample group of this study consists of 227 children and their mother-father. Personal Information Form, Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation-30 (SCBE-30) scale and Parental Attitude Scale were used in the study. According to the results of the study, children’s social competence points exhibited a statistically significant difference according to their gender, occupation of their parents and their parents' educational status. Children’s aggression points showed a significant difference according to their mothers’ educational status. Parents' parental self-efficacy perceptions did not show a statistically significant difference according to their children’s gender and their own educational status. While mothers’ parental self-efficacy perceptions showed a significant difference according to their profession, there was no significant difference in the fathers’ parental self-efficacy perceptions. Mothers’ parental self-efficacy perceptions, their interest in parenthood duty and the satisfaction they had from parenthood duty did not have a predictor effect on children’s aggression and anxiety points. While mothers’ selfefficacy perceptions and their interests did not predict children’s social competence points, the satisfaction that they had from parenthood duty predicted. Fathers’ self-efficacy perceptions, their interests and satisfaction they had from parenthood duty did not predict the children’s social competence, aggression, and anxiety points
