Abstract:

The scarcity of works taken in the Turkish of the Karakhanid period, which is one of the historical periods of Turkish, makes every work that is newly identified and whose texts will be published important in terms of understanding the language characteristics of this period. In this study, the text of a Qur'anic treatise, which was previously noted by Ahmet Ateş and thought to belong to the Karakhanid period, will be published and examined in terms of language and content features. The work that we are subject to our study is located between pages 196a-197b of a journal registered at Izmir Tire Necip Paşa Library number 82. There is also a work called al-Isâra bi-latîf, which belongs to Abû Nasr al-Irâkî, in the journal in which the treatise is the subject of our study. It is recorded that this work was copied on 12 Dhu'l-Qada 679/4 March 1281. This information makes us think that this pamphlet was also copyrighted or excluded close to the date in question. This treatise, which consists of 4 chapters in total, conveys different views on the number of suras, verses, words and letters of the Qur'an. When we examine this work in terms of language features, we see that it has the prominent language features of the Karakhanid period. In our study, the text of this Qur'anic treatise will be published and information will be given about its language and content features. At the end of our study, color images of the only known copy of the work have been added. There is another important aspect of the journal in which this treatise is found. Ali Husayn al-Farâbî copied the other work in the journal on 12 Zilkade 679/4 March 1281 and added a Turkish poem of six couplets to the end of the work. The text, intralingual translation and colorful images of this poem have been added to our work.
