Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to describe the teaching candidates who participate in the Pedagogical Training Education Certificate Program (PFESP) with the ideal teaching perceptions before the program begins with the perceptions at the end of the program. The study included a total of 171 candidates who graduated from 12 different undergraduate programs and were graduates from the final class. Teacher candidates’ ideal teacher perceptions before and after PFSEP are obtained through open-end interview forms. Analysis of data is done. The findings appear to be gathered on the following topics: professional equipment, personal characteristics and communication skills. The codes under the topics are ranked according to the critical opinions. Professional equipment: Strong pedagogical formation knowledge, expertise in the field, footsteps to professional development, fun course processing, love the profession, effective class management, being a student guide, recognizing the student, being a student example, solving problems, having a general culture, proper speech. Personal characteristics: open to learning, loving, understandable, respectful to different ideas, patient, solid character, contemporary, working, fair, enthusiastic, laughing face, related to technology, patriotic, dedicated. Communication skills: Effective communication, empathy, being a good listener, being sensitive to student needs. Despite the increase after PFSEP in the professional equipment perceptions that teachers candidates should be in the ideal teacher, there has been no much change in the perceptions of personal characteristics and communication skills. These results should be taken into account when discussing the quality of PFSEP in teaching.
