Abstract:

Refugees from different countries come and continue to come to our country for different reasons. Although there are many factors that cause this wave of immigration from different countries, it is known that the most important ones are civil war, political problems and economic problems. In the current situation, it is known that the vast majority of asylum seekers come to our country from Syria. In this context, with the civil war that started in Syria in 2011, many refugee children came to our country from Syria. Many of the incoming children do not know Turkish, which can create problems for both students and teachers. It is thought that the reasons for these difficulties are that the students do not know enough Turkish, have migrated due to war, have completely changed their country and culture, and accordingly they are insufficient both psychologically and academically. Although these reasons have been researched a lot, the education policies developed are insufficient. The most important source in determining the problems experienced in the process is the teachers who apply the process. Since the teachers cannot communicate with the refugee students, the main source of the problem is the lack of communication. In this context, the aim of this research is to state the views of prospective teachers, who will be the teachers of the future, on the education policies developed for refugee students and the teaching of these policies. The sample of the study, which was designed according to the qualitative research method, consists of 50 primary school teacher candidates studying at Pamukkale University Classroom Teaching Department. The data of the research were collected with open-ended question forms prepared by the researchers. The questionnaires, which were finalized after receiving expert opinions, were subjected to content analysis by the researchers after the application. The codes created by the researchers were brought together to reach the themes. Code and themes are presented in the form of tables and tables are supported by quotations. Considering the findings of the study, it was concluded that there are inadequacies in the education policies for asylum seekers according to the opinions of the primary school teacher candidates, and it is necessary to develop policies that will facilitate the adaptation of refugee students to the society, school and classroom and better adapt to our culture.
