Abstract:

Nish Children’s Home opened in 1863 by Midhat Pasha constitutes a basis of Province Industry Schools. When Midhat Pasha’s multi-purpose attempt works out, the Children’s Home supported by local government and notables financially first in Sofia and then Ruse in many Anatolian province were in service. When it was founded, Children’s Home was a cosmopolitan charity which provides food and shelter to homeless children. On the other hand, in the course of time it turned into the vocational education institutions in primary school level. These institutions opened or already opened in the early years of Abdülhamid era were named Hamidiye Industrial Schools. Because of taking part in province centers in general they were also called Province Industrial Schools. Although “Children’s Home Regulations” prepared by Mithad Pasha and went in effect in 1867 organized general structure of the schools, each school was shaped rather by local initiative. Administrations, capacities, vocational education programs and also training periods of the schools developed in proportion to their budgets. By 1911 Province Industrial Schools were tried to be updated structurally within the framework of Ministry of Trade and Public Works to achieve the objectives as in the industry and education level of country. Accordingly, this research is to evaluate program which envisages the transformation of the Province Industrial Schools within the framework of historical development
