Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study the knowledge of the teacher's candidates' cognitive perceptions about class management. The study was carried out using the scan research method. The research sample consists of 64 teachers candidates who study in the Department of Science and Knowledge teaching at a state university. As a data collection tool, the "Class Management Concept Form" was used, which consists of two parts. In the first part of the form, an open end question on class management was addressed in order to determine metaforic perceptions. In the second part, the Word Relationship Test (KIT) was applied. Teacher candidates have produced metaphoric phrases and class management defining phrases they have written with KIT have been evaluated by making content analysis. Through the KIT, the keywords derived from the "class management", "leader", "manager" and "leader" are interpreted by creating frequency tables and concept networks. It has been found that teachers candidates use the most "family" metaphor in relation to class management. The metaforic category in the front plan was to "control". The class management key concept is linked to the teacher word, which is another key concept. Teachers and leadership key concepts call each other. The key word is expressed in the word manager. Teacher candidates, according to the concept network, gather class management, teacher and managerial key concepts around the school word. Definition phrases for class management indicate the concepts of discipline, communication, plan-program and time management.
