Kitle iletişim araçlarının güvenilirliği ve tarafsız bir tavır sergilemesi gerekliliği büyük ölçüde bu araçların bir özelliği olarak tanımlanmıştır. Esasen, kitle iletişim araçları aracılığıyla ortaya konulan konulara yalnızca tarafsız bir yaklaşımla değil, aynı zamanda objektif bir tavırla yaklaşılması da esas olarak kabul görmektedir. Bu strateji sayesinde aktarılan haberler tarafsız bir şekilde sunulabilir. Ayrıca kitlenin medyadan herhangi bir etki olmaksızın karar vermesini sağlar. Ancak özellikle matbaanın doğuşundan itibaren bu araçlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkan politik önyargı her zaman tartışılan konular arasında yer almıştır. Hem seçim süreçleri öncesinde hem de seçim sonrasında meydana gelen siyasi olaylar gazeteler aracılığıyla haber metinlerine dönüştürülerek okuyucuya duyurulur. Lakin olaylarla ilgili hikâyeleri sunan manşetler, söylemler veya siyasi partilerin haber metinleri gerçeğin bir yansıması mıdır? Tüm gazeteler aynı olayı bildiriyorsa, neden farklı gazeteler vardır? Bu hususta iletişim çalışmalarının tarihi, basının ideolojik bir araç olduğunu, farklı guruplar arasında ortaya çıkan düşünce farklıklarının yoğun olarak yaşandığı mecralardan biri olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu araştırmada da 1 Kasım 2015 tarihinde yapılan 26. Dönem Milletvekili Genel Seçimlerinde alınan sonuçlardan sonraki dönemlerde bir gazetenin hangi siyasi partiye seçim sonuçları oranında ne derecede yer verdiği incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Amaca ulaşmak için Türkiye’de en çok okunan gazetelerden biri olan Sözcü gazetesi seçilmiş ve gazetenin mevcut siyasi partilere ne oranda yer verdiği ve haberlerini nasıl sunduğu incelenmiştir. 22 Şubat 2018– 12 Mart 2018 tarihleri arasındaki adı geçen gazetenin yayınları nicel içerik analizi kullanılarak tahlil edilmiş ve gazete yüklem kodlarının seçim sonuçlarını ve siyasi partileri yansıtıp yansıtmadığı araştırılmıştır. Gazetede siyasi parti haberlerinde ne kadar metin ve görsele yer verildiği, siyasi parti ve liderlerinin hangi çoğunlukla ve kontekste (pozitif/negatif/nötr) yer aldığı araştırılmıştır. Analizde gazete haberlerinin yapısı ve anlam açısından kelime, paragraf ile metnin tamamı düzeyinde değerlendirilmiştir.
The need for the reliability and neutral attitude of mass communication means is largely defined as a feature of these tools. Basically, the approach to issues arising through the means of mass communication is essentially accepted not only by a neutral approach, but also by an objective attitude. Through this strategy, the news transmitted can be presented in a neutral way. It also allows the audience to make decisions without any influence from the media. But the political prejudice arising through these instruments, especially since the birth of the matba, has always been among the topics discussed. Political events occurring both before and after the election processes are translated into newspapers through the newspapers to the reader. But are the notes, speeches, or news texts of political parties that present stories about events a reflection of the truth? If all newspapers report the same event, why are there different newspapers? In this regard, the history of communication studies has shown that the press is an ideological tool, and that it is one of the mechanisms in which the differences in thought arise between different groups are intense. However, especially since the birth of the printing press, the political bias that emerged through these tools has always been among the topics discussed. Political events that occur both before and after the election processes are transformed into news texts through newspapers and announced to the reader. But are the headlines, discourses or news texts of political parties presenting the stories about the events a reflection of the truth? If all newspapers are reporting the same event, why are there different newspapers? In this regard, the history of communication studies has shown that the press is an ideological tool, and that it is one of the channels where the differences of opinion between different groups are experienced intensely. In this study, it has been tried to examine to what extent a newspaper gave place to which political party in the periods after the results of the 26th Term General Elections held on November 1, 2015. In order to achieve the aim, Sözcü newspaper, which is one of the most read newspapers in Turkey, was selected and it was examined how much the newspaper included the current political parties and how it presented its news. The publications of the aforementioned newspaper between February 22, 2018 and March 12, 2018 were analyzed using quantitative content analysis and it was investigated whether the newspaper predicate codes reflect the election results and political parties. It has been researched how many texts and images are included in the news of political parties in the newspaper, and in which majority and context (positive/negative/neutral) political parties and their leaders are involved. In the analysis, the structure and meaning of newspaper news were evaluated at the level of words, paragraphs and the whole text. In the examination made, it was concluded that Sözcü newspaper mainly included neutral news after the aforementioned election, but took a stance on the side of the opposition.
