Abstract:

Today, the rapid growth of competition has made it very important for companies to evaluate their financial performance. Now, the ability of companies to maintain and grow their presence depends largely on their ability to develop and maintain their competitive capabilities in the market. The aim of this study is to analyze the financial performance of participating banks operating in the Turkish banking sector for 2019. For this purpose, a new hybrid multi-critical decision model was created for the assessment of the financial performance of the participating banks, consisting of CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) and MABAC (Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison) methods. In the first phase of analysis, the priority weights of the criteria are defined using the CRITIC method, while in the second phase the participating banks are ranked using the MABAC method. According to the results obtained from the CRITIC weighting method, the most important criterion in the performance assessment of participating banks is the number of branches criterion. The results obtained from the MABAC ranking method applied in the second phase of the analysis show that Ziraat Participation Bank is in the first place in the performance ranking while Albaraka Turk is in the last place.
