Araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin öğretimi yapılan ön bilgileri kullanma, tahminde bulunma ve çıkarım yapma, gözden geçirme ve okuma için amaç belirleme stratejilerinden hareketle ekrandan okudukları farklı metin türünde okuduğunu anlama düzeylerinde bir değişiklik olup olmadığını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırma ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel modelde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada, karşılaştırmalı analizlerden bağımsız örneklemler için t- testi ile tekrarlı ölçümler için iki faktörlü ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS paket programı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, okuma öncesi strateji öğretimi yapılan deney grubu öğrencilerinin okuduğunu anlama toplam başarı puanı, program doğrultusunda ders işleyen kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin okuduğunu anlama toplam başarı puanından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık çıkmıştır. Bu durum, yapılan uygulamanın etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Bunun yanında, okuma öncesi strateji öğretimi yapılan deney grubu öğrencilerinin hikâye edici metni ekrandan okuduğunu anlama düzeyi, program doğrultusunda ders işleyen kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin ekrandan okuduğunu anlama düzeyinden istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık çıkmıştır.
The main purpose of the study is to reveal whether there are any changes in elementary school 4th graders’ reading from screen comprehension levels of different texts, by the help of using foreknowledge that is instructed, prediction and eliciting, assigning purposes for reading and revising strategies. The study was employed in quasi-experimental model with pre-test – post-test control group. In this research, for the independent samples t-test and the repeated measures ANOVA test were used. For the analysis of the data SPSS program was employed. As a result of the survey, reading comprehension total success grade of experimental group students who were instructed pre-reading strategy was statistically higher than the grades’ of control group students who continued their lesson schedule. This result indicated that the application was effective. In addition to this, the reading comprehension on screen level of experimental group students who were instructed pre-reading strategy was found statistically higher than the comprehension level of control group students who continued their lesson schedule
