Günümüzde teknoloji hızla ilerleyip insanoğlunun çoğu sağlık sorununa tedavi yöntemleri getirirken bir yandan da sağlıkla ilgili başka sıkıntılar doğurmaktadır. Böyle bir ortamda ilerde sağlık konularını içeren fen ve teknoloji dersini verecek olan öğretmen adaylarının sağlıklı yaşam davranışlarının tespiti öğrencilerine rol-model oluşturacakları için önemlidir. Buradan hareketle çalışmada fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının sağlıklı yaşam davranışlarının ve birinci ve dördüncü sınıf arasında bir fark olup olmadığının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla fen bilgisi öğretmenliği anabilim dalında öğrenim görmekte olan birinci ve dördüncü sınıftan toplam 90 öğrenci çalışmanın örneklem grubu olarak seçilmiştir. Seçilen gruba Hallab (1999) tarafından geliştirilen Sağlıklı Yaşama Yönelik Davranış Testi uygulanmış ve veriler yüzde ve frekans değerleriyle yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerin sağlıklı yaşama yönelik davranışlarından özellikle egzersiz yapma ve beslenme boyutlarında olumsuz alışkanlıklarının olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin dört yıllık lisans eğitimi boyunca sağlıklı yaşam davranışlarında belirgin bir değişikliğin olmadığı da bulunmuştur. Sağlık davranışlarını olumlu yönde etkileyecek değişkenler bu tip çalışmalar ardından sorgulanarak daha geniş ve farklı gruplar üzerinde yapılması önerilmektedir.

Today, technology is advancing rapidly and the majority of human health problems are treated with therapeutic methods, while on the one hand it is causing other health problems. In such a environment, it is important that teachers candidates who will give the course of science and technology that will include future health issues will identify healthy life behaviors for their students to create a role-model. From here, the study is aimed at studying whether there is a difference between the health of teachers’ behaviors and the first and fourth classes. For this purpose, the teaching of science knowledge was selected as a sample group of the study of a total of 90 students from the first and fourth classes that are studying in the field of education. The Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Test, developed by Hallab (1999), was applied to the selected group and the data was interpreted by percentage and frequency values. The study found that students had negative habits in their behavior towards a healthy life, especially in the exercise and nutrition dimensions. It is also found that there was no significant change in healthy life behavior during the four-year bachelor's education. The variables that will positively affect health behavior are recommended to be questioned after this type of study on a broader and different group.

While technological advances are nowadays providing treatment for many of mankind’s health problems, technology is also contributing to other health-related issues. As teachers serve as role models for their students, it is important under these circumstances for teacher candidates who will in the future teach science and technology classes (which also cover health-related topics) to properly identify the behaviours associated with healthy living. Based on this observation, this study aimed to investigate whether there was a difference in the attitudes of first year and fourth year science teacher candidates towards healthy living behaviour. To this end, a total of 90 students between the first and fourth years receiving their education at the Department of Science Teaching were selected as the sample group of the study. The Healthy Living Behaviours Test developed by Hallab (1999) was applied to the selected group, and the data were interpreted according to percentage and frequency values. Based on the study results, unfavourable habits especially with regards to exercise and nutrition were identified in students’ healthy living behaviour. It was also observed that there were no significant changes in the healthy living behaviour of students during their four year undergraduate education. Following this study, variables that might affect health-related behaviours in a positive way should be investigated in studies conducted on larger and different groups.
