Ülkemizde yetişmiş önemli bir münevver olan Hilmi Ziya Ülken’in (1901-1974) yaşadığı dönem Osmanlı imparatorluğunun tasfiye ve Cumhuriyet’in kuruluş yıllarıdır. Bu yıllar pek çok olaya şahit olmuştur. Padişah yönetimi, ayaklanmalar, Birinci Dünya Savaşı gibi önemli vakarlın olduğu bir dönemde yaşayıp Ülkenin vaziyetine kayıtsız kalmayan mümtaz bir şahsiyettir. Yaşadığı dönem boyunca Türkiye’nin çağdaşlaşması, medeniyetimizin gelişmesi, insanımızın kültürünün artması, eğitim kurumlarımızın işleyişinin değişmesi gibi pek çok konuda katkı sağlamaya çalışmıştır. Eğitim alanından sosyolojiye, felsefeden ahlaka pek çok konuda çalışmalar yapmış, dersler vermiş ve bunları günümüze ölümsüz eserler olarak bırakmıştır. Pek çok derginin yazılması, basılması ve yayınlanmasında çok büyük katkıları olmuştur. Şüphesiz Ülken’in bütün eserlerini tek bir çalışmada ele alıp değerlendirmek mümkün değildir. Bu sebeple biz bu çalışmamızda onun ahlak görüşünü ifade ettiği “aşk ahlakı” kitabından hareket ederek, geliştirdiği ahlak felsefesini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Ona göre bir ahlaktan bahsedecek olursak bu yalnız aşk ahlakı olabilir. Aşk ahlakı ise bir hedefte sona ermeyen, tatmin edilemeyen, haz ya da fayda aramayan ihtirastır. İnsan bu ihtirasın peşine düştükçe kamilleşir, insanlaşma basamağına yükselir.
Hilmi Ziya Ülken (1901-1974), an important intellectual who grew up in our country, lived during the period of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Republic. These years have witnessed many events. The sultan's rule is an unmistakable personality who lived in a period when the rebellions, such as the First World War, existed and were not indifferent to the state of the country. The modernization of Turkey during the period he lived, the development of our civilization, the rise of the culture of our people, such as a change in the operation of our educational institutions have tried to contribute on many issues. He has given lectures on many subjects from education to sociology, philosophy to morality, and has given lectures and left them as immortal works. He has contributed greatly to the writing, printing and publishing of many journals. Of course, it is not possible to evaluate all the works of the country in a single study. For this reason, in this study, we attempted to reveal the moral philosophy that he developed in the light of his “morality of love” book, in which he expressed his moral view. To him, a morality could only be love ethics. The morality of love is the one that does not end on a target, cannot be satisfied, does not passion pleasure or benefit. As human beings pursue this passion, they become parable and rise to the stage of humanization.
