Bütünleştirilmiş Program Uygulamalarının Öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Motivasyonlarına Etkisi

Abstract:

Bu araştırma, ilköğretim 6. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersi “Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum” öğrenme alanı için hazırlanan bütünleştirilmiş program modeli kullanımının öğrencilerin sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik motivasyonlarına etkisini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılında Ankara ilinde orta sosyo-ekonomik düzey bir ortaokulda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada yarı deneysel yöntemlerden öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 30 deney grubundan, 31 kontrol grubundan olmak üzere toplam 61 ortaokul öğrencisi katılmıştır. Araştırmada sosyal bilgiler, Türkçe, fen bilimleri, görsel sanatlar ve seçmeli halk kültürü dersleri bütünleştirilmiş program yaklaşımına dayalı olarak deney grubunda işlenmiştir. Kontrol grubuna ise mevcut programla dersler işlenmiştir. Araştırmada Pintrich, Smith, Garcia ve McKeachie (1991; 1993) tarafından geliştirilen Büyüköztürk, Akgün, Karadeniz, Kılıç ve Demirel (2007) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan motivasyon ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın alt problemlerinin analizi için SPSS 17.0 programı kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi ve Mann Whitney U- testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizine göre, deney grubu öğrencilerinin motivasyon ölçeğinden aldıkları öntest ve sontest puanlarının arasında sontest lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Benzer şekilde kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin motivasyon ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlarda da sontest puanları lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının motivasyon ölçeğinden aldıkları sontest puan ortalamalarının analizinde ise bütünleştirilmiş program modelinin uygulandığı deney grubu öğrencilerinin, kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre motivasyon ölçeği sontest puan ortalamaları bakımından daha yüksek düzeyde olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The Effect Of Integrated Curriculum On Student Motivation In Social Studies Courses

This research aims to reveal the effect of the use of integrated curriculum model prepared for the “Science, Technology and Society” learning domain on students’ motivation for learning in the 6th grade social studies courses. The study was conducted in a secondary school with middle-level socioeconomic status students in Ankara in the 2014-2015 school year. The study employed a pretest-posttest control group design, as a quasi-experimental method. A total of 61 secondary school students (30 in the experimental group and 31 in the control group) participated in the study. Based on the integrated curriculum approach, the experimental group was taught social studies, Turkish, sciences, visual arts and elective folk culture courses, while the control group was taught the existing curriculum. The motivation scale developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia and McKeachie (1991; 1993) and adapted to Turkish by Büyüköztürk, Akgün, Karadeniz, Kılıç and Demirel (2007) was used in the study. The SPSS 17.0 program was used to analyze the sub-problems of the study. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann Whitney U-test were used to analyze the data. The analysis of the collected data revealed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group students (favoring the post-test) on the motivation scale. Similarly, a significant difference was found in the motivation scores of the control group students, in favor of the post-test. The analysis of the experimental and control groups’ post-test mean scores on the motivation scale showed that the experimental group students who were taught through the integrated curriculum model had higher motivation post-test scores compared to the control group students.
