Duygusal Zekâ ve Empatik Eğilim: Okul Öncesi Öğretmenleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Okul öncesi eğitimde öğretmenler, çocuğun ailesinden sonra karşılaştığı önemli bir rol model ve aynı zamanda onların gelişimi ve eğitiminden sorumlu kişilerdir. Erken çocukluk döneminde öğretmenlerin çocuklar üzerindeki etkileri oldukça açıktır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin duygusal zekaları ve empatik eğilimleri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Çalışmada genel tarama modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul ili Anadolu ve Avrupa yakasında yer alan ilçelerden basit rastgele örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen yedi ilçede görev yapan 111 okul öncesi öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Örneklemi oluşturan öğretmenlerin duygusal zekaları, “Schutte Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği” ile değerlendirilmiş, empatik eğilimlerini değerlendirmek için ise “Dökmen Empatik Eğilim Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ile öğretmenlerin demografik özelliklerine ilişkin bilgiler toplanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama araçlarından elde edilen veriler SPSS 17.0 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin duygusal zeka ile empatik eğilimleri arasındaki ilişkinin analizi Pearson Momentler Çarpım Korelasyon Katsayısı tekniği ile yapılmıştır. Okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin duygusal zekalarının empatik eğitimlerinin ne kadarını yordadığını ortaya koymak için ise, çoklu regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin duygusal zekaları ile empatik eğilimleri arasında pozitif anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Bir diğer ifade ile duygusal zekanın yüksekliği empatik eğilimin de yüksek olması anlamına gelmektedir. Yapılan regresyon analizleri ile duygusal zekanın empatik eğilim üzerinde yordayıcı etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları alandaki araştırmalar dikkate alınarak tartışılmıştır.

In pre-school education, teachers are an important role model that the child encounters after the family and are also persons responsible for their development and education. In early childhood, the influence of teachers on children is quite obvious. The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and empathic trends of pre-school teachers. Relative scanning models from general scanning models have been used in the study. The sample of the study was formed by 111 pre-school teachers working in seven districts selected by a simple random sample method from the districts located on the Anadolu and European side of Istanbul. The emotional intelligence of the teachers who formed the example was evaluated by the "Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale", while the "Dokmen Empatic Trend Scale" was used to evaluate their empathic trends. The researchers also collected information on the demographic characteristics of teachers with the "Personal Information Form" prepared by researchers. The data collected from the data collection tools were analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 package program. The analysis of the relationship between the emotional intelligence and empathic trends of pre-school teachers was done with the Pearson Moment's Correlation Screening Technique. To show how much the emotional intelligence of the pre-school teachers spends on their empathic training, multiple regression analysis has been done. The study found that pre-school teachers had a positive meaningful relationship between their emotional intelligence and their empathic tendencies. The highness of emotional intelligence means that the empathic tendency is also high. Regression analyses have found that emotional intelligence has an impact on the empathic tendency. The findings of the research were discussed taking into account the research in the field.

The basic aim of this research is the examination of the relationship between emotional intelligence and empathic tendency of preschool teachers. The study was carried out through descriptive survey method of the relational survey model. The sample of the research, which is chosen through simple random sampling, was consisted of preschool teachers who were working İstanbul city’s Anatolian and Asian parts’ 7 districts. The data of the study was obtained from 20 schools which were chosen through simple random sampling and 111 preschool teachers voluntarily participated in the study. The sample of the search was consisted of %98,2 female and %1,8 male preschool teachers. The data was collected through ‘The Schutte Emotional Quotient’ which was used for measuring teachers’ emotional intelligence and ‘The Dökmen Scale of Empathic Tendency’ which was used for measuring their emphatic tendency. ‘Personal Information Survey’ is developed by the researchers in order to determine the characteristics of the sample. Data has been analyzed with SPSS 17.0 statistical soft ware package. The relationship between emotional intelligence and emphatic tendency of preschool teachers was analysed by Pearson Moment Correlation. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to find out if preschool teachers’ emotional intelligence predicted their emphatical tendency. The findings of the study revealed that there are moderate relationship between emotional intelligence and empathic tendency. Analysis also has been concluded that regression between the scale of emotional intelligence will predict scale of empathic tendency.
