Bu araştırmanın amacı yeni Türkçe Öğretim Programı esas alınarak hazırlanmış ders kitaplarında yer alan öykü türündeki metinlerin öğrenme alanlarını ne derece gerçekleştirebildiğini belirlemektir. Erzurum il merkezinde bulunan 28 ilköğretim okulunda görev yapan 210 sınıf öğretmeni araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplamak için araştırmacılar tarafındangeliştirilen öğretmen anketi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğretmenler yeni Türkçe ders kitaplarında yer alan öykü metinlerini dinleme, konuşma,okuma, görsel okuma ve görsel sunu becerilerini gerçekleştirme bakımındanolumlu olarak değerlendirirken “yazma” becerisini gerçekleştirme bakımındanise kısmen olumlu olarak değerlendirmişlerdir
