Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to question the reasons for the participation of individuals in recreational sports activities in these activities, gender, civic status, age, income, way of perception of income, education and the place where they work, using REMM. The universe of the study consists of individuals living in the city centre of Antalya. The participants to be included in the sampling were taken using the random sampling method and the sampling group consists of 441 men (age = 33.27 ± 12.09), 341 women (age = 32.05 ± 10.84), a total of 782 (age = 32.74 ± 11.57) participants. In the research; developed by Rogers and Morris (2003) and other. The Recreational Exercise Motivation Measure (REMM) was used by the Turkish validity and reliability, and the scale is grouped in Health, Competitiveness, External appearance, Socialization/Entertainment and Skills Development. In addition to the questions that the participants received from the demographic data, the questions of the scale were asked in the Likert scale type "1- Definitely No, ..., 5- Definitely Yes" ranking. In the assessment of the data; the frequency (f), percentage (%), average (M) and standard deviation (SS) are not satisfied with detective statistical methods and homogeneity conditions, and the non-parametric tests used the Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson Correlation Test and Mann-Whitney U test and the results are 0.01 and 0. It is evaluated at the level of meaning. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to question the existence of the relationship between the REMM subdimensions and the subgroups of demographic parameters. The reasons that motivate individuals to recreational activities; in many of the five subdimensions of the REMM, gender, age, civil status, income, way of perception of income, education and the place where they are studied differ and the difference is statistically meaningful.
