Abstract:

The aim of the study is to study the impact of the processing of the EBOB-EKOK subject at high school level 8 with activities based on realistic mathematical education on academic success and mathematical attitude and to get an opinion on the realistic mathematical education approach.  In the study, a semi-experimental pattern of the pre-test-final test control group from the test models was used. The work group consists of a total of 44 students studying in a secondary school in the Hatay or Antakya district in the 2016-2017 educational year. In determining the experiment and control groups, the students took advantage of a year ago's masterpieces. The courses are organized according to the activities based on realistic mathematical education in the experiment group, while in the control group according to the activities in the MEB's high school mathematics curriculum. The academic achievements of students on the EBOB-EKOK subject are achieved through the "Mathematical Attitude Scale" developed by Kabaca (2010) and the "EBOB-EKOK Mathematical Success Test". In addition, the interview survey prepared by the researcher was applied to the experiment group. According to the research results, GME-based activities are more fun and efficient in learning lessons. However, the lessons processed with a realistic mathematical education approach in the 8th grade high school have not been more effective than the structuring approach in terms of academic success and attitude.
