Abstract:

On April 13, 1979, Ibrahim Hakki Konyali Library and Archive were opened for service in the Uskudar Buyuk Selimiye Mosque Selim the Third Hünkar Pavilion under the management of Second Regional Directorate of Istanbul Foundations. The libraray is an institutionalized biography of Konyali, who has dedicated his life to science and his science to the foundation. One important feature of the Konyalı library is that it is a foundation library formed by the influence of Madrasah. With the library opened in his name, Konyalı has made it possible for many documents and artifacts to be preserved under its roof, which were obtained as a result of a century-long struggle against history plunderers throughout his life. He did not only become experts in the documents he collected, but also in research and study method. His research is based on the education system of the institutions that shaped his scientific life. Konyalı has used his talent in Arabic language, knowledge and experience he received at Islahi Medarisi Islamiyye Madrasah for the benefit of foundation.  The two important institutions (Madrasah and foundations) that built the Ottoman and Islamic civilizations were brought together under his research method and then under the roof of the library where he conducted his research. His heritage, Konyalı Library, is a scientific institution which sustains the inheritance of Konyali and Madrasah under the foundation. This work will introduce the ideological foundations of works of Konyalı, and his research method using the sources in the archive section where his educational and scientific works are preserved.
