Abstract:

After the end of the state of Khorezmshahs, the Mongol armies burning down the Maveraünnehr and the Khorasan cities and killed the people,   came to the vicinity of Iraq and attacked Arbil and its surroundings and plundered. Because of this reason the Abbasid Caliphate of Nasır-Lidinillah worried about the safety of Baghdad and had taken measures. In the frame of this situation writing letters for this purpose  it was necessary to stop the Mongol invasion by entering into a solidarity between Muslim orders and rulers. Among the personalities that the Caliph wrote the letters and called for support were Muzafferiddin Kökböri, the Syrians rulers Melikü'l-Eşref Musa and the Sultans of the Anatolian Seljuks Alaeddin Keykubad. When the Mongols defeated Celaleddin Khorezmshahs and seized Azerbaijan, the state of Khorezmshah had disappeared. Thus, they captured all of Iraq and Iran and organized attacks on Anatolia to plunder and massacre the territories belonging to the Abbasi Caliphate. The Caliph of Abbasid Müstansır-Billah, assigned to fight the Mongols and gave the helmets to Kökböri. The caliph also established good relations with in the war and conflict for Muslim rulers in this period.
