Abstract:

On higher religious teaching institutions in Turkey, it is a known case that many academic studies accompanied by its ancient historical flow have been carried out. In these studies, higher religious teaching institutions have been addressed by academics with different aspects, including their objectives, programs, employment areas and problems. In this article, unlike the opinions the academics present, it is intended to study the perceptions of the students, which are the target audience of the Faculty of Theology, about the faculty program through metaphors. The research study group consists of 73 students at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trabzon, who are in the 4th grade completion stage in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, the methods of research have been used by the fact scientific design. In the collection of data, the "Metaforic Perception Form" used by the researcher in relation to the Faculty of Theology program, the analysis of the content analysis technique was used. The metaphors in the 65 valid forms are classified in seven categories in terms of common characteristics. According to the weight of the percentage, the major percentage of participants found that their perceptions regarding the Divine Faculty program are in the functionality of the program (29.23) and the width/deep of the content and scope (23.08) of the program. In the findings section, the perception within each category is studied along with the reasons in the background accompanied by the participants’ statements.
