Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the beliefs and opinions of teachers candidates to teach STEM subjects within a laboratory course that focuses on STEM activities. In this study, the case study research scheme used, 18 teachers who took the specified course were taught about the nature and use of STEM in science teaching and then teachers candidates developed STEM activities in groups and implemented these activities in the classroom environment. The data collection tools used in the study include: STEM Teaching Self-Capacity Scale, Identifying Information Survey and Interview Protocol. The results of the study showed that the teaching candidates STEM teaching self-sufficiency beliefs of the lesson were strengthened. The categories arising from the focus group discussions aimed at revealing opinions on STEM teaching were: (a) STEM perception, (b) use of STEM in future courses, (c) use of material, (d) developed knowledge and skills, and (e) meaningful learning. The results of the study were compared with the relevant studies and discussed and presented suggestions.
