Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde Mekânsal Vatandaşlığın Öğretimine İlişkin Öğretmen Görüşleri

Abstract:

Bu çalışma, sosyal bilgiler dersinde mekânsal vatandaşlıkla ilgili konuların öğretimine ilişkin sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini incelemek amacıyla 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında Kastamonu il merkezinde görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerine uzman görüşleri alınarak hazırlanmış 11 açık uçlu soru sorulmuştur. Görüşmeden elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yoluyla nitel veri analiz programı olan Nvivo 11 programıyla çözümlenmiştir.  Çalışmadan ortaya çıkan sonuçlara göre; sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri, mekânı yaşanılan yer olarak algılamakta ve mekân bilgisinin sosyal bilgilerde öğrencilerin çevresini tanıyarak yaşadığı yere aidiyet duygusu kazanmaları bakımından oldukça önemli görmektedir. Öğretmenlerin mekânsal vatandaşlığı, dersin doğası ve programda bulunan değer ve becerilerden yola çıkarak yorumladıkları ve mekânsal vatandaşlığın öneminin farkında oldukları anlaşılmıştır. Öğretmenler mekânsal vatandaşlığı insanlar, yerler ve çevreler öğrenme alanıyla ilişkilendirmiş, vatanseverlik değeri ve mekânı kullanma becerisini de mekânsal vatandaşlıkla en ilişkili olan değer ve beceri olarak ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğretmenler öğrencilere mekânsal vatandaşlık bilgisinin kazandırılmasının onların günlük hayatını kolaylaştıracağını da ifade etmişlerdir. Bu çalışma mekânsal vatandaşlığın sosyal bilgiler dersi içerisindeki önemine dikkat çekilmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu nedenle, çalışmada mekânsal vatandaşlık konusu öğretmen görüşleri ile detaylı olarak incelenmiş ve konuyla ilgili ortaya çıkan sonuçlara yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

This study was carried out with social studies teachers working in Kashmir city center in 2018-2019 academic year in order to examine teachers' opinions about teaching subjects related to spatial citizenship in social studies course. Qualitative research method was used in the study. The data were collected by using semi-structured interview form with social studies teachers. Teachers were asked 11 open-ended questions prepared by taking expert opinions. Thus, the data were analyzed by Nvivo 11 program which is a qualitative data analysis program. According to the results of the study; social studies teachers perceive the space as a place to live and they consider the knowledge of the place as important in terms of gaining a sense of belonging to the place where they live. It is understood that the teachers interpret the spatial citizenship, the nature of the course and the values and skills in the program and they are aware of the importance of spatial citizenship. Teachers have linked spatial citizenship to people, places and environments learning space, and expressed the ability to use patriotism and space as the value and skill that is most related to spatial citizenship. Teachers also stated that gaining knowledge of spatial citizenship would facilitate their daily life. This study is important to draw attention to the importance of spatial citizenship in social studies. Therefore, in this study, spatial citizenship subject is examined in detail with the opinions of teachers and suggestions are presented regarding the results.
