Abstract:

Yusuf Siret Bey was born in Crete. He spent his childhood and youthfulness in Resmo, Preveze, Sultanyeri, Edirne, Üsküp, İstanbul and Izmir due his father’s official duty. He began working as a policeman in 1920 in Istanbul, after he got education in the old sultani of Izmir. He graduated from eighth education term of Konya Police School. After Istanbul, he sustained his duty as a policeman in Izmir dating from 1924.He was always in the squad of guards who were protecting Mustafa Kemal Pasha in his visits to Izmir that he started from 1925. He obtained a middle school graduation diploma after passing an examination from Izmir Boys’ School in 1938. Then, he continued higher education branch of Ankara Police Institute and graduated from its third term. Advanced to chief of police from sergeant due to his determination and industriousness, Yusuf Siret Aktan served in Izmir, Hakkari, Erzincan and Bandırma. He voluntarily retired when he was the chief of police of Bandırma in 1951
