Ouml;zet: Guuml;nuuml;muuml;zde duuml;nyayı iyi tanımak ve anlayabilmek iccedil;in coğrafya bilgisi oldukccedil;a ouml;nemlidir. Ouml;zellikle ekonomik, siyasal, sosyal ve kuuml;ltuuml;rel accedil;ılardan giderek kuuml;reselleşen duuml;nyayı anlamak ve kendi uuml;lkemizi de bu şartlar altında daha uuml;st seviyelere ccedil;ıkarmak iccedil;in mutlaka coğrafya bilgisine ihtiyacımız vardır. Her milletin fertleri temel coğrafya becerilerine sahip olmalıdır. Bunlar en temelde kendi yaşadığı yeri yada herhangi bir yeri haritada gouml;sterebilme, guuml;nluuml;k olayları, gerccedil;ekleştikleri coğrafyaların bağlamında daha iyi anlayabilme, coğrafyanın sağladığı duuml;şuuml;nme araccedil;larını kullanabilme gibi becerilerdir. Buuml;tuuml;n bu beceriler coğrafya okuryazarlığını oluşturur ve coğrafya dersinin genel amaccedil;larına uygundur. Bu ccedil;alışma muuml;fredat accedil;ısından coğrafya okuryazarlığı kavramını incelemekte ve konunun Tuuml;rkiye'deki bireylerin coğrafya okur yazarlığının derinlemesine ouml;lccedil;uuml;lmesi gerektiğini ouml;nermektedir. nbsp; Anahtar kelimeler : coğrafya eğitimi, coğrafya okur yazarlığı nbsp; Abstract: Geography knowledge is quite important to understand and interpret the world around us. We need geography education to comprehend the earth under economical, political and cultural globalization, and to better our country in such world. Every nation should consists of geographically informed and skilled individuals. These skills include indicating the place they live on a map, demonstrating an understanding of everyday events on a geographical point of view, and using geographical tools in daily life. Possessing these skills can be called geography literacy and can promote geography education goals.
