Abstract:

The migrations that began with the end of the Ottoman rule in the Balkans continued after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. The Turkish migrations to the Balkans have been warmly approached in the framework of national-state understanding. There are two main factors in this approach. The first of these is that a serious decline in the Anadolu population has occurred due to the wars of the Ottoman in the last period and the second is that the remaining Turkish people in the Balkans want to be saved from the pressure they are exposed to. From 1934 to 1938, migration from Romania and Bulgaria to Turkey increased. Immigrants from the Balkans have been spread to areas with low population intensity, primarily in the region of Trakya. However, due to the current immigrant flow, in 1936 new iscan sites were identified in the Egean, Black Sea and Inner Anadolu regions. In particular, immigrants arrived in 1938 were displaced in the Anatolian region which was not in accordance with the climate and geographical conditions of the Balkans. There is no Cankri river among the locations set for migrants to be displaced in the internal Anadolu. However, the investigations conducted in the Chankırı Immigrants and Refugees Basic Registry found that immigrants from Bulgaria were displaced in the region in 1938. In this study, in light of the information contained in the Immigrant and Refugees Basic Register, the demographic characteristics of the migrants who were displaced to the Chankırı and the aid made were discussed.
