Abstract:

Tourism activities arising from people traveling for different tourist purposes XX. It became massive at the end of the century. Today, tourism has become an important social phenomenon. In addition to its local and global economic impacts, it also highlights its social and environmental impacts. In addition to individual tourism movements, the multiplication of mass tourism activities has increased the economic, social and environmental impacts. With the time, the influence of globalization and modernization, people’s values have changed greatly, and this change has also reflected travel preferences. Now different types of tourism have emerged from mass tourism, such as alternative tourism and sustainable tourism, which are targeted by individual preferences, special interest areas and include more environmentally sensitive travel. Rural tourism has been placed among alternative tourism species as a sustainable tourism in this scope. Rural tourism, which shows the importance of tourism especially in local development, has a positive impact on sustainable rural development. Through tourism, alternative sources of income are created for rural areas, while new applications are developed in agricultural production. By making rural areas attractive to tourists, rural tourism is a guide in solving the economic, social and environmental problems of these areas. In this study, a conceptual research on rural tourism was conducted to assess this variety of tourism within the scope of sustainable tourism. Examples of rural tourism activities from Turkey and different countries have been presented.
