Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify the opinions of teachers candidates on the impact of social networks on university education and the development of language skills. The research participants consist of 57 teachers candidates who studied in different departments of the Afyon Kocatepe University’s educational faculty in the 2018-2019 educational year. This research was carried out through a semi-configured conversation method. Imaginary analysis was used in the analysis of the research data. The research results that teachers’ candidates use social networks for purposes such as spending time and getting information, social networks accessing all kinds of information and following friends, etc. Their positive aspects have been found that they think they have negative aspects in terms of time losing and interfering with the course study, they follow academics in different fields and fashion, sports content pages. Also tracking people who are specialized in the field of education of social networks, getting ideas for the events or presentation of material in the classes, practical information purchasing data, etc. It has been found that they have contributed to university education and that they have an impact on the development of language skills.
