Abstract:

In this study, the aim is to examine the difficulties experienced by teachers working in the field of special education during the preparation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) in terms of various variables. The research was carried out with the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. The research was carried out on 292 participants who work in various provinces of Turkey. In order to collect data, the Scale of Determining the Difficulties in the Preparation of IEP developed by Tike-Bafra and Kargın (2009) and tested for validity and reliability was utilized. In the analysis of the data obtained from the scale, arithmetic mean, percentage and frequency were used from descriptive statistics. In addition, t-test and Anova tests were used for the sub-purposes of the study. As a result of the analysis, the teachers who participated in the research had lack of information about the functional characteristics of the students and their needs, and the difficulties of preparing the IEP according to the service period of the teachers, their level of education and in-service training, and the sharing of the information and responsibilities with the team members during the IEP preparation of the teachers. It can be stated that they had difficulties. According to these results, it is possible to include studies to develop teachers' knowledge and skills in preparing functional IEP, and work on sharing the duties and responsibilities of BEP team members.
