Çanakkale Savaşları İngiltere’nin öncülüğünde Fransızların ve çok sınırlı olarak da Rusya ve Avustralya’nın katılımı ile gerçekleşmiştir. Cephenin açılma önerisi Rusya’dan gelmiş ve planlamayı da Churchill yapmıştır. Boğazları deniz trafiğine kapatan Osmanlı Devleti 28 Ekim’de Karadeniz’de donanması ile Rus gemi ve limanlarını bombalamıştır. Bu olay üzerine önce Rusya ve arkasından da İngiltere ve Fransa Osmanlı Devleti’ne savaş açmıştır. 1914 yılı sonunda Çanakkale Boğazı’nı ele geçirme planlarını yapan Churchill, Boğazların ele geçmesiyle Rusya’ya destek yolunun açılacağını ve Bulgaristan ve Romanya’nın da kendi yanlarında savaşa gireceğini hesaplamıştır. Şubat ayında yapılan bir kaç denemeden sonra Mart 1915 de fırtınalı olmayan bir günde Çanakkale’ye deniz saldırısı başlayacaktır. Ama bu saldırıdan kısa bir süre önce, 8 Mat’ta Nusret mayın gemisinin Boğazın en geniş yeri olan ve İtilaf Devletleri gemilerinin manevra yaptığı Erenköy koyuna boğaza paralel olarak döşediği 26 mayın savaşın kaderini değiştirecektir. 18 Mart sabahı önde İngiliz zırhlıları, ikinci sırada Fransız zırhlıları olmak üzere İtilaf Devletleri donanması saldırıya geçmiştir. Amaçları ilk mayın hatlarından başlayarak mayınları temizlemek ve Boğazın en dar yerine yaklaşarak her iki kıyıdaki Türk savunma mevzilerini susturarak Çanakkale Boğazı’nı aşmaktır. Bu çalışmada 18 Mart Çanakkale Deniz Savaşı’nın ayrıntıları üzerinde durulacaktır.
The Chanakkale Wars took place under the leadership of Britain with the participation of the French and very limited to Russia and Australia. But shortly before this attack, the fate of the 26 mining battle, which is the widest place in the Gulf of the Nusret mining ship in 8 Mat and which is parallel to the Erenköy sheep, which is maneuvered by the Opposition States ships, will change. On the morning of March 18, the leading British armed forces, and the French armed forces, in the second place, were attacked by the Opposition State Navy. Their objective is to clean the mines, starting from the first mining lines, and to cross the Çanakkale Gulf by silenting the Turkish defense positions on both coasts by approaching the narrowest place of the Gulf. This study will focus on the details of the 18th March Canakkale Maritime War.
