Abstract:

One of the most important concepts that contribute to the improvement of performance and efficiency in organizations is lead-member interaction. Lead-member interaction focuses on the bilateral relationship between the leader and the followers. This study aims to reveal the relationship between the lead-member interaction (school manager-leader) and the teacher’s level of stress, exhaust and depression. The work is designed in the relative scanning model. The sample of the study; 437 teachers in 48 schools in the Hatay province, from the teachers who are in charge in the 2018-2019 educational year, are selected in a non-reflective manner by the group sample method. The data is collected through the Leader-Member Interaction Scale, Stress Scale, Extinction Scale and Depression Scale. The measurement model indicates that the variables have a statistically meaningful relationship with each other. The results of structural equality modeling show that lead-member interaction has a statistically meaningful and negative impact on teachers’ stress and exhaust levels. Lead-member interaction negatively affects the depression levels of teachers, with the full mediation effect of stress and exhaust. Based on the findings obtained, it is necessary to have a quality of school manager-leader interaction to reduce or prevent the negative emotions of teachers.
