Abstract:

It is important for policy makers to investigate the effects of energy use and electricity consumption on country income in ensuring economic growth. In this regard, It was aimed to determine in the essay that what direction and to what extent it affected of energy use which express oil consuption and electricity consumption in Turkey's economic growth. Fort his, In the study covering the years 1960 and 2014, Autoregressive Distributed Lagged (ARDL) Model was used to realize the goal. As a result of the analysis, while it was concluded that long-term energy use positively affected economic growth by 4.51%, it was concluded that electric power consumption reduced economic growth by 0.62%. In order for electricity consumption to have a positive effect on economic growth, it is thought that it will be provided by increasing electricity production within the country and becoming an exporting country rather than an importer.
