Abstract:

This study examined the relative efficiency and productivity of 9 wholesale and foreign trade sector companies listed in the 2019 Fortune 500 Turkey magazine by Malmquist Data Envelopment Analysis In the evaluation of efficiency and productivity, in parallel with the literature, financial profitability and export revenues as output variables; the company's number of employees, asset size and equity size were preferred as input variables. The companies' efficiency was examined according to the output-oriented Charnes-Cooper-Rhodes and Banker-Charnes-Cooper model between 2016-2019. According to the model of Charnes-Cooper-Rhodes results, it was seen that two companies could not reach the efficiency limit in 2017 and 2019, while only one company could not reach the efficiency limit according to the model of Banker-Charnes-Cooper in 2019. As a result of Malmquist Data Envelopment Analysis, the change in technical efficiency, technological efficiency, pure efficiency, scale efficiency and total factor productivity of companies compared to the previous year were examined separately. As of 2019, it has been determined that the total factor productivity of only two companies has decreased. It has been determined that the companies generally follow a triumphant performance that is similar to each other.
