Abstract:

The development and form of public relations practices vary according to the country, region and culture in the world. At this point, serious differences are observed in terms of the development history of public relations practices of countries. Public relations activities in South Korea started with practices where the state informs citizens. With the improvement in the economy and the democratization of the country's politics, the variety of public relations practices have increased. During this period, a serious change was experienced in the method and institutionalization of public relations practices and the attitudes of professionals. The culture, philosophy and beliefs of the South Korean people have determined the essence of public relations practices in all periods. South Korea has significant differences in terms of public relations practices compared to US and Europe examples. The aim of the study is to explain the relationship of public relations practices in South Korea with the socio-cultural structure and contributing to the lack of literature on the subject in Turkey. In this study, Hofstede's cultural analysis for South Korea will be used. The formation and development process of public relations in South Korea will be examined with the case study method. The effects of South Korea's socio-cultural structure on public relations practices in South Korea will be revealed.
