Abstract:

The Arhavi district, which is linked to Artvin, has important rural areas that can be opened to tourism with its historical, cultural and local values and undestructed natural structure. Exploring the areas that Arhavi can open to rural tourism, providing its promotion by revealing the historical, cultural and traditional values of the site, will make significant contributions to the province and district. The first part of our study focuses on the reasons for rural tourism’s development and the effects of rural tourism on rural development, and the second part provides detailed information about Arhavi’s tourist attractions, Arhavi villages’ potential rural tourism values and existing cultural values. In the last part of our study, we evaluate the results and recommendations. In the method of our research, we first gathered data through a comprehensive literary scan. In the next stage, the top 30 villages connected to the Arhavi district are the locals (muhtar, teacher, village imam, etc.) According to the information obtained by negotiations, the location of historical and natural structures that carry the tourist product value of the site has been identified. As a result of the study, it is expected that tourist movements will be attracted to these places by revealing the uncovered rural tourism values of Arhavi. Thus, both rural areas will be open to tourism, and they will be beneficial for local and foreign tourists in terms of places to travel. The fact that the people of the village get income from tourism is also one of the expected results of this work.
