Dede Korkut yadigârı ozanlık geleneği yer yer şekil değiştirse de asırlardır varlığını devam ettirmektedir. Bu gelenek, Türk dünyasının hemen her bölgesinde canlı bir şekilde yaşatılmaktadır. Türkiye’de de birçok âşık tarafından bu gelenek sürdürülmektedir. Bu âşıklardan biri de Denizlili Ozan Nihat’tır.
Ozan Nihat, Batı Anadolu'nun ilk âşıklarındandır. Çok iyi saz çalan, yanık sesi ile güzel türküler söyleyen, başarılı atışmalara imza atan Ozan Nihat halkın gören gözü, duyan kulağı olarak onların gönlüne tercüman olmuştur. O, gerek toplumsal gerekse bireysel çok çeşitli konuya şiirlerinde yer vermiştir. Onun şiirlerinde işlediği konulara bakıldığında millî ve manevi konuların daha yaygın olduğu dikkati çekmektedir. Ozan Nihat; vatan, millet, devlet, bayrak, tarih, dil, şehitlik, birlik ve beraberlik, çalışkanlık gibi konuların yanında Kur’an-ı Kerim, Ramazan, iftar, sahur, teravih, namaz, cami, imam gibi birçok dinî unsuru da şiirlerinde işlemiştir. Bir milleti millet yapan dildir. Dili en güzel kullananların başında da şairler ve âşıklar gelir. Ozan da şiirlerinde bu şair ve âşıklara da yer vermiştir. Halk kültüründe mühim bir yeri olan “körebe, saklambaç, yüzük” gibi geleneksel oyunlar da âşığın şiirlerinde yerini almıştır. Ozanın, bu konuları hem müstakil şiirlerde hem de birçok şiirin dörtlükleri arasına serpiştirerek işlediği görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmış, şiirler içerik açısından incelenmiştir. Denizlili Ozan Nihat’ın yayımlanan şiirleri tahlil edilmiş, onun şiirlerde işlediği millî ve manevi değerler tespit edilerek yorumlanmıştır.
