Öğretme-öğrenme sürecinin temel unsurlarından biri araç ve materyallerdir. Araç ve materyaller, öğretme-öğrenme sürecini desteklemek, öğretimi daha etkin ve kalıcı kılmak amacıyla kullanılırlar. Coğrafya öğretiminde, konu ve kazanımlara uygun, kullanılan yöntem ve teknikleri destekleyen pek çok araç ve materyal kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada; coğrafya eğitim ve öğretiminde kullanılan materyallerin neler olduğu, materyal seçimini etkileyen faktörler, coğrafya eğitiminde kullanılan materyaller ve 2005 coğrafya dersi öğretim programına göre materyal anlayışı ele alınacaktır. Ayrıca, yeni programda öngörülen araç ve materyallerin üretilmesi ve kullanılmasında; ders kitaplarının, öğretmenlerin, öğrencilerin, öğrenme ortamlarının, okul yöneticilerinin ve velilerin değişen anlam, sorumluluk ve rollerinin neler olduğu belirlenmeye çalışılacaktır.
One of the basic elements of the teaching-learning process is the tools and materials. The tools and materials are used to support the teaching-learning process, to make the teaching more effective and durable. In geography teaching, many tools and materials are used to support the methods and techniques used, which are appropriate to the subject and achievements. This study will discuss what the materials used in geography education and teaching are, the factors affecting the material selection, the materials used in geography education and the understanding of the material according to the 2005 geography course curriculum. In addition, the production and use of the tools and materials provided for in the new program will be attempted to determine what the changing meaning, responsibilities and roles of the curricula, teachers, students, learning environments, school managers and guardians are.
