Abstract:

Abstract:

Literary works are presented to the reader with different narrative techniques, and they come to the reader in different meanings. The artist reflects his feelings and thoughts in his work by developing new perspectives with different methods of expression. The 'internal monologue' and 'conscious flow' techniques are also one of the narrative techniques that are subject to different readings and examinations with the aspects that add richness to the literary texts related to the essence of narration. In these two ways, the writer, by entrusting the word to the novel and the story person, approaches the text and the reader to each other. The reader directly faces the inner world of the hero. Read, thus trying to think about the text, understand and complete the text. The 'internal monologue' and the 'flow of consciousness' are the narrative techniques that are commonly used in modernist literature. As an original representative of modernist literature in Turkish literature, Son Atay has used many of these two narrative techniques in his novels and stories. In this article, Atay's "forgotten" story, a very rich text in terms of modernist narrative techniques, will be evaluated in terms of the "internal monologue" and the "conscious flow" technique. The text will first be a conceptual assessment of the internal monologue and the techniques of consciousness flow, then the work of Atay will discuss the dealing with these techniques and the view of these techniques in the summer world. The "forgotten" story, which is the subject of the text, will be studied in terms of the use of the indicated narrative techniques. Abstract:

The literary works are presented to the reader with various narrative techniques and they meet the reader with different meanings. The artist reflects his/her feelings and thoughts on his/her work with different expressions by developing new perspectives. "Interior monologue" and "stream of consciousness" are techniques that add value to the literary texts based on narrative methods, thus they have been subject to different readings and reviews. With these two techniques, the writer entrusts the word to the character in the story and novel and brings the reader closer to the text. She/he makes the reader face the hero's inner world. In this way, the reader tries to make sense of the text and to complete it. "Interior monologue" and "stream of consciousness" are among the most frequently used narrative techniques in modernist literature. As a unique representative of modernist literature in Turkish literature, Oguz Atay has used these two narration techniques in his novels and stories. In this study, we will examine Atay's  " The Forgotten", which is a very rich text in terms of modernist narrative techniques, in terms of "interior monologue" and "stream of consciousness" techniques. In the paper, we will first make a conceptual evaluation of the "interior monologue" and "flow of consciousness" techniques, then discuss how Atay approaches these in his works and his view of these techniques in the world of literature.
