Abstract:

This study aims to identify some morphological characteristics of the Honamlı Keçi breed (n=200), which is common in the Mediterranean region of Turkey, especially in the Toros Mountains. From the cows that traditional farmers cultivate, the data were taken from the Live Weight, Cidago Height, Breast Deepness, Body Length, Breast Environment, Height Height, Hole Length, Head Length, Hole Length, Front Hole Environment and Back Hole Environment. Regression analysis for LBW is performed with correct body measurements. The data is classified according to age and gender pattern. The effect of age and gender on all body dimensions was significant (P <0.01) found. A positive correlation between the living weight and some linear body measurements has been observed at all ages (P <0.01). The results of the regression analysis showed that the living weight can be predicted using the measurements of the breast depth, body length, breast circle, head width, and front pen surroundings. The rate of births, infertility, single and twine births from the reproductive characteristics is 87, 13, 71% and 28% respectively. The number of boys per female and per six female was 1.28 and 1.11 respectively. The study used 190 head boys; birth weights in twins and single boys were 3.58 kg and 3.95 kg respectively, milk cut weights 24.94 kg and 28.69 kg, milk absorption period daily living weight increases were 0.180 kg and 0.205 kg. The child’s life rate in the period from birth to milk cut (120 days) was 80%.
