Abstract:

This study aims to study the ethical decision-making attitudes of athletes in terms of the dimensions of the athletic orientation. For this purpose, the ethical decision-making attitudes have been studied whether they can not adjust the dimensions of the sporting orientation (compliance with social norms, respect for rules and management, commitment to responsibilities in the sport and respect for competitors) to a meaningful level. The research was done in accordance with the relational scan model. The study group consists of 487 men (X age = 24.64, Ss = 5.50 years) who participated in the Youth and Adults Wushu Sanda and Taolu Championship between 4-14 February 2018 organized by the Wushu Federation. The study used data collection purposes; "Multi-Dimensional Sports Orientation Scale", "Ethical Decision Attitudes Scale in Sports" and "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher. The study found that the sporting orientation from the subdimensions of "compliance with social norms", "rule and governance respect", "compliance with sports responsibilities" and "concurrent respect" to the moral decision-making dimensions of "protecting winning fairly" was positively related, "accepting competitive pleasure" was negatively related. However, it has been found that "adoption of fraud" is positive related to the dimensions of moral decision-making with "adoption of social norms" and "adoption of fraud" is negative. It has also been shown that all the subdimensions of the moral decision-making attitudes are significantly depending on the dimensions of "compliance with social norms" and "compliance with sports responsibilities". From the ethical decision-making attitudes, the subdimensions of "protecting fairly winning" and "accepting competition" have seen a meaningful contribution from the subdimensions of the sporting orientation to the "rules and management respect" and the "concurrent respect" dimensions, while the subdimensions of "accepting fraud" have not seen a meaningful contribution.
