Toplumsal yapıların zamanla kültürel değişime uğraması, bazı bireylerde uyumsuzluk ya da yeniye uyum konusunda çeşitli zorlukları beraberinde getirip kimlik ya da aidiyet sorununu ortaya çıkarır. Bazen bireyin, ya kendinden üstün görmesinden kaynaklı ya da bireysel menfaatleri için başkalarına benzemeye çalışması bireysel kimlik sorununu beraberinde getirir. Çalışmanın amacı; bir sosyal çevreden ötekine geçişin bireyde oluşturacağı kültürel ve ruhsal yabancılaşma üzerindeki etkisini, yokluğun ve oturmamış benliğin bireyin bulunduğu sosyal ortamı değiştirmesiyle ortaya çıkan farklılıklara karşı verdiği kimlik mücadelesini karşılaştırmalı bir şekilde ortaya koymaktır. İnceleyeceğimiz ‘Germinal’ ve ‘Sevgili Arsız Ölüm’ adlı eserlerdeki metinlerde, yeni bir kimlik elde etme çabasında olan Etienne Lantier ve Huvat Aktaş karakterleri üzerinden kimlik arayışı irdelenecektir. Aynı zamanda, eserlerdeki sosyal çevre değişiminin insan yaşamı üzerindeki etkisi de gösterilecektir.
The cultural change of social structures over time brings in some individuals a variety of difficulties in incompatibility or re-adaptation and causes the problem of identity or membership. Sometimes an individual attempt to resemble others, either due to its superiority or for its individual interests, brings with it the individual identity problem. The purpose of the study is to compare the impact of the transition from a social environment to the other on the cultural and spiritual alienation that the individual creates, the absence and the identity struggle against the differences arising from the alteration of the social environment in which the individual is located. In the texts in the works ‘Germinal’ and ‘Love Untold Death’ we will review, the identity search will be carried out through the characters Etienne Lantier and Huvat Aktaş who are trying to get a new identity. At the same time, the impact of social environmental changes in works on human life will also be shown.

Purpose of the study; The aim of this study is to mutually reveal the effect of the transition from one social environment to another on the cultural and spiritual alienation of the individual, and the identity struggle of the individual against the differences that arise when the absence and unsettled self change the social environment in which the individual is located. The search for identity will be examined through the characters of Etienne Lantier and Huvat Aktaş, who try to obtain a new identity, in the texts of the works named ‘Germinal’ and ‘Sevgili Arsız Ölüm’ that we will examine. At the same time, the effect of the social environment change in the works on human life will be shown, too.
