Abstract:

The issue of employment in Turkey has been a topic of debate throughout the Republic history. The different economic policies implemented in different periods have had different impacts on employment. The implemented economic policies create variations not only in the quantity of employment, but also in the structure of employment. The aim of this study is to reveal the structural changes and transformations that occurred in employment after 1990. In the study, the method was used as a outcome analysis. The period of empirical examination covers the years 1990-2012. In the review period, the conclusion was that the capacity of the Turkish economy to create jobs in general decreased. In particular, the service sector has seen an increase in the capacity to create jobs. The logistics sector is also in an important position in terms of employment multiplication, creating another output of the work. It also analyzed the connectivity structures of the sectors, the use of factors was revealed. The current situation of employment structure has also been discussed as a result of policy suggestions.
