Proverb; expressed on the basis of long trial and observations, which have been widely accepted by people as guiding their lives. .Proverbs and idioms, arising from the common public life and accumulations of the societies, represent an absolute treasure of cultures. Given that the language phenomenon remains the most effective and natural instrument of interaction and communications, there is no doubt that many proverbs and phrases will find their place in our words heritage. For example, while the "tongues wagging" and "move from language to language" express the same meaning, "he has mouth but no tongue” and “inability to hold his tongue” are used to express the opposite meanings. Our goal is to first determine the proverbs and idioms, which include the word “tongue” in the standard language, and then review the proverbs and idioms relating to the word “tongue” as expressed in the contemporary Turkish music (i.e. Pop, arabesque, folk music, nostalgic music and so on).
