Abstract:

The Middle East was shared between England and France after the Sykes-Picot Agreement which was signed between the two states during the World War I. In this sharing, the region of Hatay was given to France.  While the region of Hatay was within the boundaries of Turkey when the Armistice of Moudros was signed at the end of the World War I; it was invaded by England first and then by France after the armistice. General Mustafa Kemal, who had commanded the 7th Army and stopped the progress of the English in the North of Aleppo before the armistice, drove the unions in the front lines into the boundaries of Turkey even during his commandership of the Yildirim Army Group to which he was assigned after the armistice and embarked on a resistance movement against the potential negative circumstances of the Armistice of Moudros, which paved the way for and maintained Allied invasions while he was expected to stop the war due to the armistice. This article examines the reaction of General Mustafa Kemal to the Armistice of Moudros and its potential problems and in this context, his activities toward preventing the invasions in the region with regard to Hatay.
