Abstract:

Conceptual exchange texts are texts that indicate what the student's conceptual errors and causes are and that these concepts are insufficient along with examples. The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of class teacher candidates to the conceptual exchange texts used in physical and chemical change. The research was carried out by 30 teachers candidates who studied in the 1st class of the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University in 2009. In this study, the experimental research model is controlled by the group-free final test design. As a data collection tool, the Conceptual Change Text Attitude Scale has been used. There were also written opinions of the teachers candidates on the conceptual change of texts. Data analysis calculates the average points for each item in the attitude scale of the teacher candidates. The written opinions are classified under certain codes as qualitative. In the study, the findings obtained from the attitude scale showed that the teaching candidates’ attitudes towards conceptual change texts were quite high. The results obtained from the written statements of the teacher candidates are also qualified to support that the attitude is such a high degree.
