Abstract:

Women and men are the concepts that define the biological gender that people have. Within the limits that these concepts are widely used in everyday life, certain roles are charged to individuals, and sociologically these concepts represent the social roles they have. Consumption is a process that begins with the emergence of needs, which covers the satisfaction of needs and afterwards. Those who use goods and services are called consumers. Gender is an important market division standard used in marketing. So social gender roles also form consumption-related behaviors. This study was carried out with the participation of students studying at the Faculty of Health Sciences of a state university. The analysis of the data collected was done through the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 package program. Analysis and frequency and percentage distribution have been calculated, reliability and factor analysis have been made and specific parametric tests have been used. The results of the analysis found the lower dimensions of the scales, the average and the standard deviations were calculated. Sub-factors of the environmentally sensitive consumption behavior scale have been found and the relationship of these factors with the gender roles of students has been determined. The findings found that there was a meaningful relationship between social gender roles and energy-saving behavior, recycling behavior and ecological-conscious decision-making behavior.
