Abstract:

The Ottoman State has actively fought on many fronts from the Caucasus to Iraq, from the Suez Canal to Çanakkale. In addition to these fronts, the Ottoman forces have operated by taking active/passive defense measures in the areas that are not effectively combated. In this context, the threat of the West Anatolian coasts by the British and French Navy, and the ability of the opposition elements to organize air movement where they want with aircraft ships, has led to the Ottoman General Command Division to deploy air forces in the area concerned. The objective is to ensure the security of the capital Istanbul with the air forces in Çanakkale against the possibility of the opposition forces to make an exit through Gelibolu or Izmir after the Çanakkale battles and to take measures against the possible exit movement. In this study, the aviation activities carried out in the West Anadolu Region after the Canakkale Victory were studied on the basis of archive documents.
