Abstract:

We investigated effects of environmental factors and time on blood typing and sensitivities of the two methods, i.e. absorption-inhibition (AI) and absorption-elution (AE) methods. To this aim, we formed blood stains on cloths, carpets, wall papers, faiences, briquettes, bricks, soil, calcareous soil, fertilized soil, green leaves (Monstera deliciosa, Liebm. Araceae, common name: Windowleaf) and tree trunks (Pinus pinea, Linnaeus 1753, Pinaceae, common names: Stone Pine, Italian Stone Pine, Umbrella Pine), the materials likely to be stained with blood in a crime scene, and performed blood typing for two years. We can conclude that there is no marked difference between AI and AE but that it takes a longer time to obtain positive results when AI is used for blood stains on soil, calcareous soil and fertilized soil
