Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool for evaluating the self-care skills of children aged 3-6 years. The sample of the study was formed by 211 children continuing to two private and four official pre-school education institutions, selected by random group sample. In the test validity study; the structure validity and scope validity analysis processes have been applied. According to the results of the opening factor analysis, the material was not extracted from the test and the test consisted of a total of 50 substances. It was also collected under the six subtitles of the test, according to the recommendations of experts, as a result of coverage validity (cleaning and personal care, eating, resting, clothing, self-protection from accidents, environmental regulation). Testing the conformity index of the test has been used Maximum Probability Verifying Factor Analysis. The achieved conformity index values showed that the scale substances were properly determined for subtests. For the test reliability study, internal consistency ratio, test-up test reliability and two semi-test reliability processes were used. The high Cronbach Alpha reliability ratio values, calculated separately for three, four, five and six years of the test, and the results from the test repetition application and the Spearman Brown ratio showed that the test reliability was sufficient. The overall outcome of the research is that the Self-care Skills Assessment Test is a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating the self-care skills of children aged three to six years.
