Abstract:

Health workers are at risk of many occupational diseases that will adversely affect their health. These risks are caused by reasons such as the lack of sufficient consciousness of healthcare workers, the lack of knowledge in employees and the lack of measures to be taken by the health institution. This study aims to identify the relationship between the risk of occupational illness and job satisfaction of healthcare staff working in health institutions. The universe of the research consists of 625 health staff working at the Kahramanmaraş Sütçü Imam University Education and Research Hospital, which provides health services in Kahramanmaraş province. The sample of the study consists of 170 medical staff selected using the simple random sampling method. With the help of a computer statistical program, a frequency analysis was first done to identify the demographic characteristics of the participants. The study applied verifying factor analysis to identify the validity of professional diseases and job satisfaction scales. The reliability analysis was conducted in order to test the reliability of measurements, in other words, the internal consistency, and the values were found to be above .60. The correlation analysis identified the middle-level relationship between the variables. According to the findings obtained from multiple regression analyses applied for hypothesis tests, the factors that negatively affect health negatively affect the organizational work satisfaction. On the other hand, the measures requested by the institution have been found to have a positive impact on the individual work satisfaction.
