Abstract:

In this study, which is intended to study the translation of universal value living in the secondary school books of the Turkish lesson, the study of documents from the quality research methods has been used. For the determination of the study group, easy-to-accessful case sampling has been used from the purpose sampling methods. With this method, all the reading texts and poems included in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th class Turkish curriculum books used in the 2017-2018 educational year have been studied. The study used the UNESCO Value List, the Living Values List and the Rokeach Value Classification. The data is studied through visual analysis. The research finds that the most commonly used values in high school Turkish lessons are: aesthetics, love, kindness, workforce; the least used values are peace, simplicity, humility, tolerance. It is also found that the value transfer in the study Turkish curricula is done quantitatively intense but the topics and values in the curricula are not fully matched in terms of class levels, some values are not given any place and there is no systematic structure in the distribution of values to topics if class needs.
